Barcelona are keen on Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Catalan newspaper say Barcelona have become aware that Ajax’s price to sell the defender this summer is €25m.
Linked previously with Davinson, it was even claimed last year that Barcelona had secured a deal for the player, when he was still with Atletico Nacional. That clearly wasn’t the case and if Barcelona still want him then they’ll face competition.
Mundo Deportivo say Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also interested in the 20 year old, and an offer from Stamford Bridge ‘could even reach €40m’.
Given that a few paragraphs earlier the asking price is stated as €25m, Ajax would probably gift-wrap Davinson for Antonio Conte at such an amount.
Chelsea aren’t the only English club, with Mundo Deportivo saying there are others, all willing to go to the over the odds figure of €40m.
It seems like Chelsea are being used as window dressing by the Catalan newspaper, a club worthy of competing with Barcelona for a player.
That of course doesn’t make the interest real, and it’s easily arguable that Chelsea have their own young central defenders just as talented as Davinson, or more so.
