On Thursday, we relayed claims made in Italy that Tottenham Hotspur are in the lead to sign Roger Ibañez after the AS Roma player was offered to the Premier League side.
Tiago Pinto, the Serie A side’s general manager, made a trip to London earlier this week, to work on an incoming operation and also to carry out a few sales.
Pinto is still in the English capital and will meet Tottenham today for the defender, according to Romagiallorossa.it.
It’s stated the Giallorossi director will have a meeting with Spurs ‘in the next few hours’ to evaluate the 24-year-old’s sale.
Roma, as per the report, value the centre-back at least €30-35m. The north London club are unlikely to meet their demands but Pinto ‘will try’ to convince Daniel Levy to spend around €30m to acquire the Brazilian’s signature.
With Spurs deciding not to make Clément Lenglet’s loan stay permanent and Davinson Sánchez reportedly wanting to leave the club, Ange Postecoglou would need a new centre-back next season, even if they appear to still be going after the Frenchman.
Whether that’ll be Ibañez or another player remains to be seen.
