Here we are, two days from the transfer window closing, and we’re still waiting for a transfer that should have been completed in mid-July.
On the 17th of July, The Guardian reported a deal was done for Georges-Kevin Nkoudou to travel from Marseille to Tottenham, and a medical was set.
Said examination was then passed, and happily reported by everyone who sat around waiting for an official confirmation that never came.
Fast forward over 40 days, and the young French winger is still waiting for something to happen, so he can either return to Marseille or play for Tottenham next season (which we’re guessing he’d prefer).
Predicting a date for this to be over seems a bit redundant now, considering that we’re pretty much guaranteed to get it right if we say “before Wednesday at 11.30pm”, seeing as that’s the deadline for a deal to be done and all that.
La Provence on Monday do the same, and, like everyone else, want to know whether this was ‘just an Erasmus exchange between the two clubs, or if he’ll return to being a professional footballer after having spent over a month in a hotel, like a piece of abandoned luggage’.
Marseille are still expecting to have some incomings this transfer window, which, on paper, include Clinton N’Jié from Tottenham on a loan with a view to buy.
It’s just getting boring now, to be honest, so imagine what it must be like for Nkoudou (and N’Jié for that matter, although he’s stayed at home in London, rather than a hotel).
