RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has told the club he plans to leave this summer, and Tottenham Hotspur are among his suitors.
The 21-year-old defender is one of the hottest prospects in Europe, having starred for Leipzig since his move from Salzburg in 2017.
He has long been linked with several sides in Europe, with big clubs from the Premier League and La Liga all named as interested parties.
The latest to join that list are Tottenham, according to SportBILD, who say they ‘want’ the Frenchman this summer.
The newspaper explains that Upamecano ‘wants to leave’ and has made this clear to Leipzig, who are now under pressure to find a buyer for him.
Upamecano’s contract is set to expire in 2021, so the German side need to find a suitor to avoid losing one of their prized assets on a free transfer next year.
He’s available for €60m as that’s the release clause in his current contract, although it’s stated finding a buyer at that price may be difficult given the Coronavirus outbreak.
It’s unknown whether Leipzig would be willing to sell for lower than that, although their need to find a buyer could mean Tottenham can get a bargain if they play their cards right.
