Things have happened quite quickly in the life of Davinson Sanchez. After making his debut for Atletico Nacional in 2013, he won the Copa Libertadores three years later. That’s when he was sold to Europe, where he joined Ajax, stayed for one year and then moved to Tottenham Hotspur.

And the Premier League challenge wasn’t too difficult for the Colombian international, as he hadn’t required much time to show he’s going to be important at Tottenham.

Now the player prepares to one of the greatest games of his life, as the London side will be facing Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu for the Champions League group stage this week.

Sanchez has spoken to EFE (via El Espectador), and claimed that it’s totally possible that the Spurs can return to England with a win in their bags.

“We focus and focus first on ourselves. All players in this team have the ability to beat any club. The first thing is us. But we can’t forget that there’s a great team at the other side, a team that has always shown its category, and more so at home. The idea is to go to Madrid and make our game. If we play our game we have the ability to add points or win anywhere.

“It’s a beautiful match and very important for us. We want to continue adding points and remain in competition. And I think we have the capacity to do it.

“If we play as we know and implant our characteristic style, we will be close to doing so. I firmly believe that we have the capacity to do so.”

The defender was asked about the importance of Harry Kane in the team, especially with Dele Alli’s absence, but Sanchez is not a fan of expecting the striker to win the game on his own.

“We can’t only think of Harry, since we have many quality players, players that can make a difference…. Harry is a reflection of how well we complement each other.”
