Despite avoiding relegation to the Championship, Southampton could still end up having to let go of a few of their players, especially if a number of clubs who ended the season above them come knocking.
One of those could be Mario Lemina, who is, according to Foot Mercato, attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal.
The French website state Mauricio Pochettino is ‘under the player’s spell’, suggesting this would solely be a managerial target rather than one driven by the club’s recruiting staff.
With Mousa Dembélé potentially on his way out of Wembley at the end of the season, Mario Lemina makes sense as a replacement for the Belgium international.
As for Arsenal, the Gunners have been linked with Lemina in the past, and Foot Mercato explain Arsène Wenger’s club ‘have not forgotten’ about the Gabonese midfielder.
Whether Southampton will want to sell Lemina in the summer is a different matter altogether, but if they do see this as an opportunity to make a quick profit, they shouldn’t be short of options going into the summer transfer window.
Everton and West Ham have also been linked, and their interest was detailed repeatedly last summer.
