With 23 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, Gent’s Jonathan David has been attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Three days ago, the forward’s agent, Nick Mavromaros revealed his client dreams of a move to Manchester United and the Red Devils had their official to watch the player in action against AS Roma on Thursday.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Tottenham Hotspur also sent a scout to Belgium to watch the 20-year-old play against the Serie A side.
The Canada international found the back of the net in the 25th minute against Roma, but his goal wasn’t enough to help Gent progress further in the Europa League.
David set ‘Ghelamco Arena on fire’ with his fine display and fifth goal in the European competition, and this should have impressed Spurs’ representative.
Apart from United and José Mourinho’s side, there were scouts from several other clubs who were in attendance to watch the young sensation.
HLN had earlier reported that Gent turned down €25m bid for David from an unnamed club in January.
It remains to be seen if the Jupiler Pro League side will be able to hold on to their stay beyond this season.
