Tottenham are battling it out with Juventus for the signing of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this summer.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the defender is moving ‘towards a farewell’ as his contract is set to expire next year.
They explain that Fiorentina are ‘looking for the right place’ to send Milenkovic this summer and would prefer to sell him abroad if they can.
The Serie A side need to find an agreement that not only matches their desire to cash in but means they can actually find a deal in the current market.
They’d like to make at least €35m in any sale of the highly-rated centre-back, but those parameters may have changed given the lack of money available to most clubs in Europe.
Fortunately, there are still suitors for Milenkovic, with Tottenham and Juventus both said to ‘remain vigilant’ to what is going on with him.
They know the player’s contract expires next summer, and there are negotiations between Fiorentina and his agent Fali Ramadani about the situation.
The likelihood of the player remaining in Florence without having signed a new deal is ‘minimal’; thus the door is open for the likes of Tottenham to get their man.
Indeed, them making a move would suit all parties, but whether they will, particularly as they seem keen on Atalanta’s Cristian Romero, remains to be seen.
The reports says the player is ‘Between Tottenham and Juve’, suggesting he’ll sign for one of the two.
