With Antonio Conte promised a hefty transfer budget this summer following the club’s qualification for next season’s Champions League, Tottenham are set to add some depth to their squad.
Fabio Paratici is likely to be a busy man this summer, and one of the tasks, it seems, will be to find another striker, one who can challenge Harry Kane and allow the England international to rest from time to time without jeopardising the club’s attacking output.
One player who could provide that is Lyon’s Moussa Dembélé, who tends to be at the heart of many rumours ever summer.
Once coming close to signing for Chelsea, the striker is now courted by other Premier League clubs, among which can be found Tottenham.
Right now, however, Dembélé isn’t rushing to court out his future one year from the end of his contract with Lyon, but if he doesn’t renew, he is likely to be sold so that they can cash in on him.
That’s why ‘the door isn’t closed’ from the French club’s end regarding a transfer, with a price of around €25m set for this summer.
This is seen as an ‘affordable price’ for most clubs, especially those based in England, like Tottenham.
Dembélé, down his end, ‘will listen if an offer, combining both an interest sporting project and an coherent financial package, presents itself’.
Tottenham’s Paratici now knows what he needs to do.
