It’s now time for the Brazilian media to report Newcastle United’s pursuit for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.
Goal Brasil today writes that the Magpies are ‘strong candidates’ to land the player this summer, as they’re currently negotiating the transfer with the La Liga side.
The biggest issue is said to be the price, as while Sevilla demand €45m, Newcastle only want to spend up to €35m.
According to Goal Brasil, the player is already aware of the Magpies’ interest and considers the move to St. James’ park to be a good ‘next step’ in his career.
It’s said he ‘thinks a lot’ about leaving Sevilla this summer and wishes to move to the Premier League.
Newcastle’s chase for Diego Carlos has been strongly reported by the Spanish media this week, following initial interest in January, even though the defender has been linked to Aston Villa as well.
Now with Goal Brasil only mentioning the Magpies as the strong contenders for the signing, perhaps Eddie Howe’s side are indeed closer to landing the 29-year-old.
