A foot injury has kept Vincent Janssen on the sidelines for the first half of the season and since regaining full fitness, the striker hasn’t made any appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.
In the winter market, Real Betis were looking at the option of signing the 24-year-old, according to Dutch newspaper AD.
The La Liga outfit seemed to be the Spurs frontman’s new club and the former were of the belief they even had a deal with the north London club’s chairman, Daniel Levy.
Janssen also felt the Premier League club would sanction his transfer, but Betis decided to pull the plug after Levy ‘wanted to see more money’.
AD explains that it was not just Betis who tried to sign the Dutchman as Schalke were looking to take him on loan on deadline day.
The transfer window in Germany closed at 6pm, and there wasn’t enough time to complete the player’s medical, which is why his move to the Bundesliga club also collapsed.
If Levy had not asked for more money, as is claimed, there could have been a good possibility that Janssen would have been a Betis player now.
