Back in February, Tottenham Hotspur were successful in beating tough competition from Barcelona to agree a deal with Djurgårdens IF Fotboll for Lucas Bergvall’s transfer. He will arrive at the Premier League side in the summer.
Earlier this month, Djurgårdens official Peter Kisfaludy insisted the 18-year-old didn’t pick Spurs over the La Liga side for money, but didn’t reveal any details of his salary.
Two months ago, Fotball Direkt stated Bergvall will earn SEK 18m per year at Tottenham without bonuses.
A fresh report from Fotboll Direkt excitedly reports they’ve found out the figures are higher than they previously thought.
FD had previously reported an annual salary of SEK 18m, but they now explain that it’s actually higher than that.
It’s claimed Bergvall will collect SEK 22m per year [around €1.8m, £1.6m], and the report further adds this is ‘enormous money’ for a player who will be starting his career in the Premier League from next season.
Of course, by Premier League standards it’s not so huge but from a Swedish football perspective it’s colossal money.
