On deadline day of the winter market, Dele Alli left Tottenham Hotspur and sealed a move to Everton.
The attacking midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Toffees, who have appointed Frank Lampard as Rafael Benítez’s successor at the Merseyside club.
Prior to allowing the 25-year-old to join Everton, Spurs had offered the England international to other clubs, especially in France, according to Wednesday’s edition of L’Equipe.
In the past, when the former MK Dons man was starring for Tottenham, he was getting linked to Paris Saint-Germain.
Towards the end of the January window, Alli was offered to Ligue 1 sides, including PSG, where his former manager Mauricio Pochettino is currently in charge.
Apart from the Paris club, the player was proposed to Lyon, Marseille, Monaco, Nice, Rennes, Lille.
These clubs were told Tottenham were ready to allow Alli go out on loan, if they could take a ‘good part of his salary’.
L’Equipe state some of these clubs were considering it, but no track was concrete when Everton positioned themselves for the transfer.
Goodison Park was the ‘destination ultimately favoured ‘by Alli, which ended other suitors’ hopes of signing him.
