Gustavo Poyet could play a big part in Tottenham Hotspur signing Malcom, because he’s just been named Bordeaux manager.
With the French club in danger of slipping down Ligue 1 and in something of a crisis situation, Poyet has been brought in to steady things… it could very much go either way.
Should the new Bordeaux boss want funds to spend in January then he’s likely going to have to sell, and Malcom is one of the obvious options in that regard.
On Friday we covered reports from Brazil that Tottenham have now edged ahead of Arsenal in the race for Malcom, with English reports saying the Gunners have backed away.
UOL had already reported a €35m offer going in from Tottenham, and the new offer was said to be €40m, a figure which could rise to €50m with extra payments.
A meeting was said to be being held in London on Friday, and as yet there’s no response on that. The Brazilian slant on Malcom moving to Tottenham seems to be full of enthusiasm for the move, the club, and Mauricio Pochettino.
That would suggest it’s the player who is keen on a move, perhaps Poyet can persuade the club to be as well.
