Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today features a story explaining how good João Palhinha is and the importance he should have for Sporting this season.

Now since the midfielder has also been linked with an exit from the Lions this summer, the outlet also mentions the small chance that the club has of losing him.

O Jogo names Tottenham Hotspur as the club who’d like to sign the 26-year-old. Still, they claim that despite the interest from Nuno Espírito Santo, Spurs have ‘no liquidity’ to sign Palhinha now.

It’s said that Sporting demand at least €40m for the midfielder in this transfer window, and that’s not a price the London side can afford.

It’s been a while since the Portuguese media started reporting Tottenham’s interest in Palhinha, but Spurs never seemed close to convincing Sporting of a deal.

It was said at one point that the Premier League side would offer €20m for the player, and following his performance at the Euros, it seemed obvious that the Lions would demand way more than that.
