Tottenham are considered one of the teams that ‘could meet all expectations’ for Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann this summer.

That’s according to ABC, who present Spurs as a potential destination for the Frenchman as Barcelona look to get rid of him.

The Catalan giants are keen to move the Frenchman on as they’re desperate to reduce their wage bill and bring funds into the club at the same time.

They had been eyeing a potential swap deal with Atlético Madrid, but that looks difficult to get done and so selling Griezmann to the European market is probably a more viable option.

On Thursday, we covered a report from L’Equipe that stated that Tottenham had been ‘contacted’ about a potential move.

ABC pick up on that thread and state that Tottenham are one of the teams that ‘could meet all expectations’ that Barcelona have set.

According to the newspaper, they are ‘very close’ to selling Harry Kane to Manchester City (we suspect they’re just speculating there) and so will need to replace him.

That sale would be a big one and bring in big funds but also mean that they would need to find a ‘guaranteed attacker’ to replace him.

Griezmann would ‘meet expectations’ on that front, and the feeling is that he could become a serious target should Kane end up leaving.

Of course, that has to happen first and would take some time, so any move for the France star is probably far off at this point.

There’s no mention of an asking price, but Griezmann still weighs at around €70m on their bill, so the figure would undoubtedly be somewhere around that.

It’s a deal to keep an eye on rather than get excited about at this point, but it seems the idea is growing in strength either way.
