De Telegraaf have a big feature in their Wednesday edition on potential Ajax transfers this summer. As always, there’s clubs eyeing up some talent at the Dutch club, but this time Ajax are said to be ambitious themselves in the market.

It’s easy to tell fans that in May, and the club’s followers will hope it actually comes to fruition.

No Ajax transfer round-up would be complete without a mention of Matthijs de Ligt. The central defender has been much linked with Barcelona, albeit mainly for a 2019 transfer, and De Telegraaf pick out two Premier League clubs as well.

Tottenham and Manchester City are said to be involved in the fight to sign De Ligt, and are joined by Barcelona and Bayern Munich, making it an almighty battle. It must be said, and Tottenham fans may remember this, that last summer the same newspaper insisted interest in Davinson Sanchez was greater than it actually was.

At times it appeared Ajax were feeding De Telegraaf claims of Real Madrid offers (despite the Spanish club’s local media saying nothing) as part of an effort to get more money out of Spurs than had originally been expected. It didn’t work.

Whilst Barcelona interest, for 2019, may have something behind it, there’s not been much in Germany about Bayern. Manchester City have been linked but then that’s almost routine for such players.

The report labels De Ligt the ‘greatest talent’ of the Netherlands, and, perhaps intriguingly for a transfer, it’s pointed out Mino Raiola is involved, working with agent Barry Hulshoff.

That should be enough to start Manchester United rumours as well.
