Tottenham had a scout at Nice’s match against Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday evening, report SFR in France.
The obvious target of Tottenham’s spies is Jean-Michael Seri, a midfielder who the club have been repeatedly linked to.
In mid July France Football named Tottenham among clubs interested in the Nice player, and explained any club interested will have to pay €40m. Seri has a personal agreement with Nice that he can leave for such a fee.
A week later, L’Equipe reported Tottenham were ‘studying his profile’. At the beginning of August the same newspaper linked Spurs once again, but again there was no claim of talks being held or an imminent offer arriving from the Premier League club.
Given the interest is simmering rather than on the boil, it makes some sense for Tottenham to continue watching Seri, wanting more information before they make their mind up.
Unfortunately for Nice and the midfielder, Lokomotiv Moscow won the Europa League match 3-2, but Seri was one of the better players for the home side.
Manuel Fernandes, 32 years of age, scored a hat-trick for the away side, and Mario Balotelli scored both of Nice’s goals.
