The Catalan media have got the Leon Goretzka bit between their teeth, and the latest claims involve Tottenham and Liverpool.
In the Thursday edition of Mundo Deportivo it’s stated Barcelona can now sign Goretzka with Schalke’s help. But, in all honesty, that’s not really the case.
The Catalan newspaper explain how Schalke want to keep Goretzka until the end of the season, even though they know it’ll lose them a transfer fee. With the midfielder’s contract expiring in June, the winter window is the last opportunity to get a fee if Goretzka doesn’t renew.
Juventus have approached Schalke about a January sale and have been surprised to be told it won’t be happening. Therefore, Goretzka would leave for free, and Mundo Deportivo say he’s already made the decision to sign for Barcelona.
With Mundo saying Bayern Munich are no longer seriously interested, which could be news to the Bavarian club, the ‘only problem’ is other clubs, with Tottenham and Liverpool named.
Joining Juventus as a Barcelona rival, Mundo Deportivo say Tottenham and Liverpool are both keen on convincing Goretzka the Premier League is for him.
Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp have been credited with interest previously, but perhaps Barcelona should keep a closer eye on Bayern and not assume the German champions are now uninterested.
