Tottenham could be set to do battle with Barcelona for striker Gift Orban, with the Catalans now showing an interest in him.

That’s according to Fichajes, who say Barcelona are planning for a future without Robert Lewandowski and drawing up potential recruits as a result.

They have several options on the table, but it is Orban who is ‘standing out above the rest’ at this moment in time.

He’s been shining for Genk once again and that has attracted the attention of Barcelona’s new sports director Deco, who would very much like to sign him.

Their scouting department is not the only one to have taken notice of Orban’s performances, though, with AC Milan and Tottenham also in the mix and two teams that could compete with Barcelona for his signature.

Tottenham’s interest is nothing new as they were thought to be keen throughout the summer as they sought to replace Harry Kane.

A deal never happened, and it was explained in Belgium that Spurs thought the price being quoted by Genk was too high, despite the fact their own scouts were absolutely convinced that Orban would be a successful signing.

That appears to be a sentiment which is shared at the Camp Nou and a transfer tussle could be on the cards if Barcelona make a definitive move to get the striker.
