Earlier in April, Denmark’s BT reported Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Lyon’s Joachim Andersen is ‘massive’, and the Lyon player’s agent was expected to meet Spurs officials later that month.
These claims are relayed in another report from the same news outlet and they provide new development on this case.
BT claim it’s ‘almost certain’ the centre-back, who spent the season on loan at Fulham, will continue in the Premier League and in London, as Spurs are in the ‘driving seat’ for his signature.
It’s also explained the north London club and the Ligue 1 side are in ‘concrete’ talks for the Denmark international, after the latter’s representatives met with Tottenham chiefs in April.
Spurs are in the process of appointing José Mourinho’s successor and the report adds the managerial situation won’t have an impact on their transfer plans.
Even though several London clubs are interested in the defender, Spurs remain in forefront to acquire his services.
Lyon are looking to sell the former Sampdoria man and were hoping to earn €30m from his sale. The figure can now be ‘surpassed’, considering the player is attracting interest from the Premier League.
Andersen, for his part, wants to focus on Euro 2020 preparation with Denmark. Therefore, some time would be needed to conclude the deal, while his representatives can ‘let everything else progress’ behind the scenes.
