Have you got a headache? Would you like one? If so, read on.
On Friday, Portuguese newspaper Record reported Tottenham are ‘very close’ to signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting. Talks were said to have intensified, and Spurs had told the player’s agent they were ready to pay more than €70m.
That didn’t seal it, because other clubs remained interested.
Saturday’s edition of the same newspaper reversed from that, explaining Christian Eriksen would need to leave first, and that quite clearly hasn’t happened and doesn’t look imminent.
So as Record reverse on their claims, O Jogo, who didn’t really say anything on Friday, take them up.
They state there’s an English ‘war’ for the player, with Tottenham entering the scene.
They’re said to be ‘close’ to the requirements of Sporting and have sent a proposal to the Lisbon club, with ‘arguments capable’ of convincing them.
Spurs are edging ahead because Manchester United are showing ‘indecision’ and are ‘hesitant’.
Could it be that Tottenham interest is being pushed to try and remove that hesitation? It’s quite possible.
At this stage we’re starting to doubt if Bruno Fernandes even exists.
