Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Sofyan Amrabat has been discussed regularly in the past few weeks and some of these reports also stated that Spurs came close to signing him in the past.

The Fiorentina player starred for Morocco at the World Cup and was closely observed by Spurs and other clubs in Qatar.

On December 15th, La Repubblica reported Tottenham are the most interested club when it comes to signing the 26-year-old.

This is now backed up by Foot Mercato, who explain the north London club are one of the sides most interested in the ex-Feyenoord man.

It’s further claimed Tottenham are ‘advancing their pawns’ to secure his services. Antonio Conte has observed Amrabat while in Italy and wanted the player for several seasons.

Amrabat ‘wants to discover the Premier League’ and amid interest from Spurs, he prefers Liverpool at the moment. Tottenham must find a way to get ahead of their league rivals, if they wish to sign Conte’s long-term target.

The report also states the Serie A side are trying to extend Amrabat’s contract as parting ways with him in the mid-season window will be a sporting loss for them.

At the same time, they have not closed the door to Amrabat’s sale and Foot Mercato add a fee of €40m should be enough to take him away from Fiorentina.
