Following a couple of loans, Yasin Ayari is now returning to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The midfielder had spent the first part of the season at Coventry City, swapping them for Blackburn Rovers in January.
Now that he’s heading back to Brighton, he’s featured in an interview with Swedish newspaper Expressen to talk about his future.
Ayari sounds confident that he did a good job at Blackburn, despite not playing much, and is only focused on continuing to get some minutes next season.
“It was a good loan, I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted, but every time I got to jump in I did well and they appreciated what I did. I spoke to the coach before I left and he wants me back there, but we’ll see what happens,” said the 20-year-old.
Ayari was purchased by Brighton back in January 2023, when signed from Swedish side AIK in a €4m deal. In his few months at the club, he only had four chances to play, and that’s why the Seagulls were clear that he should spend a year on loan at Championship sides.
Now given the confidence he’s showing, perhaps he can use the pre-season to prove that he deserves a place in the squad for the 2024/25 season. Either way, he has a contract with the club running until 2027, so there’s plenty of time for that.
