Think of it being Black Friday and that thing you really wanted in the summer, but was sold out, is now in stock and available at such a discount it’s like the whole event has been designed for you.
That’s potentially what could happen with Newcastle United and Kiko Casilla. Linked strongly in the summer, Marca explained both the player and Real Madrid blocked a move to Newcastle.
Last week, Marca directly brought Newcastle back into proceedings, with there being a chance Casilla could be edged out of the club this winter. It was again stated Rafael Benitez is the man behind Newcastle United’s interest, and had ‘expressly requested’ the club sign him.
Monday’s edition of AS brings some rather positive news on that front. With Real Madrid once again linked strongly with signing Kepa from Athletic Club Bilbao, AS state Casilla would be the ‘loser’.
However, it’s made clear Real Madrid ‘will make it easy for him to leave’, with AS saying he’d be given ‘carta de libertad’ or offered a loan. The ‘freedom card’ means Casilla would be offered a free transfer, which sounds like a nice Christmas present for Newcastle United.
Just in case Newcastle United are keen, Achraf Hakimi, a 19 year old right back, may also be available on a loan deal.
