With not much else to do these days, a lot of players are speaking to the press, and that includes Serge Aurier.

The Tottenham defender is currently on lockdown, and is contracted to Spurs until 2023, but once that’s over, he admitted he wouldn’t mind returning to Paris Saint-Germain, which he described as the ‘club of his heart’.

Having spent many years there, that might seem understandable, but for Jérôme Rothen, the comments didn’t sit well, especially after the way Aurier left the Ligue 1 champions following his Periscope scandal.

For the ex-footballer-turned-pundit, it all felt too easy, especially when you know how much the French side can pay players.

Well, in true Aurier fashion, the Tottenham right-back didn’t take long to catch wind of it all and he took to social media (Instagram, in this case) to reply to Rothen.

Posting a picture of the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, he wrote, relayed by Foot Mercato: “If you cross this guy, tell him to shut his mouth a bit, otherwise I’ll tell Tonton Evra to bring him a mask himself.”

Aurier was referring to a spat Patrice Evra and Rothen had last year following Paris Saint-Germain’s exit from the Champions League against Manchester United, which led to the former left-back posting a nine minute video revealing a lot of details about Rothen’s past when they were both at Monaco.
