A week or so ago, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday were said to be tussling over the signing of Miquel Nelom.
Feyenoord were set to allow the left back a January exit on reasonable terms because of the service he’s given to the club, and were ready to negotiate with the English sides.
Both Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday were reported to have contacted the player’s agent about a January move, but he was ‘not yet convinced’ the Championship was the place for him.
Concerned the clubs weren’t up to his ‘level of ambition’, Nelom wanted to wait longer in the transfer window to see if anything better came in.
Well, De Telegraaf now report he’s off to Sparta Rotterdam who are currently rock bottom of the Eredivisie. Nelom moves on loan for the rest of the season, and he’ll be a free agent in the summer.
It can’t be sure what either Birmingham or Sheffield Wednesday offered, but it can’t have been that attractive if Nelom has plumped for a loan move to Sparta… or perhaps he’s just completely against leaving the Netherlands.
