Manchester United signed Patrick Dorgu in the winter transfer window after weeks of negotiation.
The move came about after talks that led to the Red Devils paying £25.2m to Lecce.
There is now a claim that Dorgu was not Manchester United’s preferred target for the wing-back spot.
FCInterNews have reported that the player that Ruben Amorim initially wanted was Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco.
The report states that Manchester United had knocked on the Italian champions’ door in January to sign the Azzurri star but it was the player himself who ‘didn’t want to start a conversation’ about a transfer to Old Trafford.
That was because he’s very happy at Inter, who he sees as a ‘great team’. Arsenal were also interested in Dimarco last summer and a similar response was issued to them at that point.
There is now also interest from Real Madrid and they have asked for information but they are also going to be pegged back by the 27-year-old.
There’s every chance this is simply FCInterNews trying to hype their club’s player and his perceived committment to them, with Manchester United used to add drama.
