Fulham were linked with a move for Roma’s Zeki Celik in the winter transfer window.

They had come in for the full-back quite late and there was hope about a transfer being done before the window slammed shut.

A move didn’t materialise and the Turk has now started two out of the last three Serie A games for the Italian giants. He is starting to prove himself in a Roma shirt.

Despite that, his future remains uncertain.

La Repubblica, as relayed by ASRomaLive, have reported on the Turkey international’s situation.

They believe that Fulham were actually ‘very close’ and there was also interest from Besiktas.

Hope is offered to both the clubs as the report suggests that since Roma want to sign Alexis Saelemaekers on a permanent basis, they could opt to sell Celik in the summer.

Manager Claudio Ranieri believes that the 28-year-old has done well in recent weeks but the Giallorossi will negotiate an exit in the next few months.

There is no indication of whether Fulham are still interested or not but the London club could have a favourable opportunity in the summer.
