On a bit of a transfer roll since getting promoted to the Premier League, it appears that Huddersfield have reached their first stumbling block of the summer in Andrea Ranocchia.
The Inter defender had a good second half of the season on loan from Inter at Hull City, and caught the eye of quite a few clubs for the coming campaign.
Unwanted at the Serie A club by Luciano Spalletti, teams like West Brom and the Terriers were the ones pushing the most for his signing, but it seems the Baggies might not have Premier League competition anymore.
Wednesday saw a handful of reports emerge from Italy claiming the Italian defender had rejected the offer from Huddersfield, with the player wanting a more reputable club.
Interestingly, Corriere dello Sport on Thursday explain the 29-year-old ‘reaffirmed’ his rejection to the Terriers, suggesting David Wagner’s side returned for a second attempt, probably just going ‘are you sure?’.
So that’s a firm ‘no’ from Andrea Ranocchia, meaning they will need to look elsewhere to bolster their defence.
