Olarenwaju ‘Larry’ Kayode’s situation at FC Girona seems to have more to it than meets the eye. The Manchester City owned spent the first half of the season on loan in Catalonia and was supposed to be there for the full campaign.
Then he went to Nigeria for a Christmas break, and on January 11th it was reported in Spain that ‘bureaucratic problems’ meant he couldn’t get back in the country. Marca explained it was all a mystery, if Kayode had been fine to play in Spain last year then there seemed little reason he wouldn’t be allowed to return.
Still, it was taken at face value and Marca explained Manchester City were working to send the 24 year old to Bursapor, something which was later backed up by the Turkish media.
On Tuesday Mundo Deportivo cover the ‘soap opera’ and say Kayode will today return to training having had 14 days longer holiday than his teammates.
The newspaper call it a ‘curious’ situation and say ‘it remains to be see how the manager handles it’.
If we’re reading the reporting correctly, and between the lines, there’s a suggestion this was more about a prolonged stay than serious visa problems.
There’s several Spanish reports on the Manchester City loanee today, none of which, that’s we’ve seen, mentioning Bursaspor.
