More than a week ago, Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Manuel Locatelli.

There have been claims in Italy the Gunners have submitted a concrete offer for the midfielder.

On Thursday, Carnevali revealed his side have received an offer for the 23-year-old from a foreign club and talks are ‘well underway’.

Carnevali didn’t confirm details of the club that made the offer, but he did admit not wanting to disturb the player until after Italy’s Euro 2020 final against England on Sunday.

L’Equipe now state Locatelli is ‘set to leave’ the Serie A side this summer even though he has two years left on his contract.

When discussing suitors, the north London club and Juventus are mentioned. Regarding Mikel Arteta’s side, it’s claimed they have ‘declared interest’ in the player.

The Italy international’s desire is to join the Turin club, with whom he is ‘close to reaching an agreement’. The Old Lady, however, must overcome competition from Arsenal to secure the player’s signature.

Unless Juve step up their efforts and find an agreement with Sassuolo, Arsenal can retain hope of signing Locatelli after informing his club about their interest in signing him this summer.

Sassuolo welcome Arsenal interest because it puts pressure on Juventus, at the very least, and that’s likely why they’ve spoken about it publicly.
