The main club Christian Eriksen has been heavily linked in the past few months has been Real Madrid, largely thanks to himself and the Danish media.
He has a year left on his contract at Tottenham Hotspur and an exit for the 27 year old had seemed plausible this summer.
Last Friday, we covered claims from Sport, who explained Eriksen and Ajax’s Donny van de Beek had ‘come to the fore’ in Los Blancos’ transfer list, with the club left disappointed in their efforts to sign Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
Another newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, now claims sources close to Real Madrid’s board have told them Eriksen and Van de Beek have both been completely ruled out.
Zinedine Zidane is so ‘stubborn’ with the signing of Pogba that he will refuse the option of signing Eriksen or Van de Beek as an alternative, even if Real Madrid fail to acquire the World Cup winner’s services.
With the Real Madrid option further fading, Eriksen may want to think again about refusing a Tottenham renewal.
