Hull City striker Abel Hernández is leaving the club in a couple of months, according to reports from Italy.
An exclusive article on Tutto Mercato Web this Wednesday claims that the decision is practically made and the player is expected to depart in the January transfer window.
The striker’s future should remain in England, though. The website says that Aston Villa are an option that could become a reality soon.
With one goal and one assist in eleven appearances this season, Hernández hasn’t exactly been a superb player for the Tigers in the current campaign.
The player joined the club from Palermo in 2014 for €12m. His first season wasn’t very good, with only four goals scored. But the following year was quite impressive, as Hernández scored 22 goals in the 2015/16 Championship season.
His past in Italy is probably what makes the local outlets report the move first, even though they don’t seem to know how much the buying club will pay for him.
With only 17 goals scored in 16 Championship games, maybe Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa need a new striker. bruce know the player well from his time at Hull City, and perhaps that’s started the pieces falling into place.
