Stoke City have had a bid rejected for Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini, according to claims in Italy.
The Italy international struggled to get games with the Serie A side last season, and has recently been linked with Premier League sides including West Ham United, and now Stoke City.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has today claimed Stoke City have tabled a bid in the region of €25m, but this was instantly turned down by Napoli. Stoke City are hoping to bolster their attacking options this summer, and are looking to take advantage of Gabbiadini’s situation at Napoli.
The forward arrived from Sampdoria 18 months ago, but last season had to watch from the sidelines because of the form of Argentine superstar Gonzalo Higuain. However, despite his lack of playing time Napoli are unlikely to accept offers from Gabbiadini until the future of Higuain is sorted out
The Argentina international in the past 12 months has established himself as one of the best strikers in world football, and has been linked with a big money move this summer, including links with clubs in the Premier League.
Napoli are also in the market for a striker with Pescara’s Gianluca Lapadula on the verge of joining the club.
