The Turkish media today highlights the importance that Southampton loanee Paul Onuachu is having at Trabzonspor this season.
Since arriving at the new club, the striker has managed to score nine goals and three assists in 18 appearances, buut it’s not just those stats that show his impact there.
Aspor today features a story showing that Trabzonspor have been struggling to win when Onuachu is not available.
The Turkish club have won 11 of 17 league games in which the Southampton loanee was on the pitch, and only managed a victory in 3 out of the in 11 games he has been absent for.
The striker had already been absent because of the Africa Cup of Nations, and is currently sidelined with an arm injury, having fractured a bone.
The good impression he’s been leaving in Turkey is surely good news for Southampton, who shall have a much bigger chance of selling him at the end of the season.
Right now, the Nigerian player is valued by Transfermarkt at €13m, which is still below the €18m the Saints initially paid for him.
Last month, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan had already claimed that they shall ‘sit and talk’ about the purchase in the summer, and if he can get a few more goals once he is back from injury and help win some games, then a transfer makes all the more sense for all involved.
