Chelsea suffered two defeats in their last two matches, during which they conceded seven goals and managed to score twice.

Their latest loss came against Real Madrid as the Blues suffered a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Karim Benzema was the star for the visitors. After netting two headers in the first half, the striker capitalised on Eduardo Mendy’s error at the start of the second half, to seal his hat-trick. Kai Havertz, meanwhile, managed to score a goal for the Blues just before the break.

AS have been critical of the Senegal international’s display and Thomas Tuchel’s tactics against Los Blancos in the first leg of the Champions League tie.

Mendy was one of three Chelsea players not to receive any rating from the same newspaper. The other two are Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen.

The latter two’s defensive partner, Thiago Silva, received three stars, despite his side conceding three goals.

Apart from the Brazilian, Havertz was the only Chelsea player to receive three stars from AS. Jorginho, Mason Mount and Recce James received two stars.

The rest received one star.

Marca also followed AS and gave blanks to Mendy, Rüdiger and Christensen. They gave two stars to only Havertz and Azpilicueta. The rest, including the substitutes, were given a rating of one star.

Over at Sport, they gave 2/10 to the Chelsea goalkeeper, which was the least rating for any player. The second least was 3/10, which was given to Christensen, James and Pulisic.

Benzema, on the other hand, was given a rating of 10/10 by Sport.

What’s common from all the Spanish papers today are that they were not convinced with Mendy, Christensen and Rüdiger against Real Madrid.
