As we read the Spanish sports media today, we see the word ‘revolution’ used quite a few times to describe Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign under Unai Emery.
One of the stories comes from AS, who highlights the form which brought the Villans to the fourth place in the table.
It’s said the Champions League now became a ‘real objective’, as Emery ‘revolutionises’ the Premier League by putting Aston Villa in such sport.
‘If the Premier League is led by a nabager from San Sebastian, the Champions League [spot] is being contested by a player from Hondarribitarra. A candidacy that if in the 2022-2023 season was already serious, in the current campaign it is, thanks to the Spanish coach, more than a reality,’ says AS.
Another outlet highlighting Aston Villa’s form is Estadio Deportivo, who comes up with a headline saying ‘A revolution called Unai Emery’.
Their piece explains how the manager, alongside Monchi, managed to break a club record by reaching 22 wins in one calendar year for the first time, and all that with one more month to go.
It’s said Aston Villa now aim to clinch a place in the Champions League, and that will be possible with the ‘great turnaround he has managed to give the team’.
Unai Emery’s side now prepare to play Legia Warsaw in the Conference League, but are certainly anxious to get back to the Premier League, where they face Bournemouth on Sunday.
