When it comes to a crisis, few clubs seem to find themselves in one quite as often as Valencia do.
The La Liga club have lurched from one disaster to the next in recent years, often stopping midway through to get themselves sorted out, only for it all to go downhill rapidly soon after.
That’s what’s happening at the minute as there’s something of an internal war going on between owner Peter Lim and the sporting directors of the club, namely Mateo Alemany.
The pair have different ideas about how they want to run the club, and that’s causing plenty of friction, particularly when it comes to transfers. The latter has seen Wolves get caught up in the mix and end up adding a whole lot of tension to proceedings according to Las Provincias.
You see, Wolves had a deal in place to sign defender Mouctar Diakhaby. The whole thing was set up by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has a special relationship with the Premier League side and is friends with Peter Lim. In fact, he helped the businessman to buy the club.
However, that move was quickly vetoed, and Wolves ended up signing Jesus Vallejo on loan from Real Madrid instead.
That didn’t impress Mendes, or Lim for that matter, and has ended up causing more friction between themselves and the sports management. The failed move is seen as further proof that the club is being pulled in two different directions by two parties with different ideas.
