Tottenham are undergoing an overhaul this summer, with Daniel Levy opening up funds to Mauricio Pochettino to help Spurs take the next step.
They’ve already completed a club record deal for Tanguy Ndombele and are seemingly in the market for a midfielder, with deals for Dani Ceballos, Dani Olmo and Giovani Lo Celso all rumoured.
The latter has seen Spurs negotiating with Real Betis for several weeks but it seems he’s not the only Betis player they’re keen on.
According to Diario de Sevilla, Spurs have shown an interest in left-back Junior Firpo this summer.
The 22-year-old impressed for the La Liga club last season and has earned plenty of attention around Europe. Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been credited with an interest, as well as Liverpool.
Diario adds Tottenham to that list, saying that they have ‘pointed’ towards the youngster and Betis are waiting for them to make their move.
The La Liga club have set a relatively big asking price on their man, though, with the newspaper reporting they will only let him leave for an offer above €30m.
And whether Tottenham would be interested at that price is debatable. They have Danny Rose and Ben Davies available at left-back so it’s not a position they need to strengthen in.
Although if one of those were to leave, particularly Rose, then they would need a replacement and a 22-year-old would fit into their strategy of signing young talent.
They’ve long been credited with an interest in Ryan Sessegnon too and perhaps they see Firpo as an alternative to him with Fulham playing hardball over their talented youngster.
Firpo has made clear his desire to stay at Betis, but it seems they’d be tempted to edge him out for €30m.
