Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has emerged as a transfer target for Valencia, if claims in Spain are to be believed.
Marcelino’s side have completed the signing of Italian right-back Cristiano Piccini from Sporting and have seen Joao Cancelo leave the club and join Juventus on a permanent transfer. Rúben Vezo is a player who can fill in the fullback position, but he is primarily a centre-half.
Mundo Deportivo takes a look at the situation, and the Catalan newspaper claims Los Che need to further strengthen their defence before the transfer window closes and so far ‘does not rule out’ reinforcements.
This is when the name of the Belgium international crops up as the La Liga outfit are interested in the Celtic man, who has one year left on his current deal with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Boyata, like Vezo, is also a central defender who can play on the right side of the back four. However, there is no mention whether the player or the Scottish Premiership winners are interested in the transfer in the report.
A Celtic exit has been on the cards for Boyata, as far as the player is concerned, and there’s a good chance he’d be tempted by Valencia.
