Sergio Aguero not being first choice for Manchester City game in and game out is always going to encourage rumours. Aguero is a club legend and, all things being equal, it would be a surprise if he was out of the club’s strongest starting eleven.
Mundo Deportivo explain on Saturday that Aguero has long been a target of Real Madrid, and so the rumours of interest from there are inevitable.
It’s stated that if Real Madrid president Florentino Perez can do a good deal then they’ll certainly go for it: ‘if they can sign him for a reasonable price, they do not hesitate for a moment.’
Aguero will be 29 years of age in June, Perez won’t want to break the bank, and the Argentine is also on huge wages. With a contract until June 2019, Manchester City are under no immediate pressure to consider the player’s future.
However, it would be assumed that if Madrid make an approach, and Aguero asks to leave, Manchester City could look on the situation with understanding eyes, given the player’s service.
On that note, Mundo Deportivo claim Aguero’s entourage have made initial contact with Real Madrid to learn what their intentions would be.
