Despite claims that Southampton and Lyon have reached an agreement for the transfer of Duke Caleta-Car, the deal isn’t quite done yet.

That’s because, according to L’Equipe in France, the player has yet to conclude talks with the Ligue 1 side about his personal terms.

The French newspaper corroborate the information from Spain that the two clubs are happy with the amount of the transfer fee, which is expected to be around €5m, and was helped by the good relationship between John Textor and Southampton’s director of football Rasmus Ankersen.

However, the sticking point remains the centre-back himself, who has ‘yet to find an agreement’ with Lyon over his contract.

Should he manage to do so, he would return to a league he knows well, having spent time in France with Marseille before leaving for Southampton a year ago.

Therefore, we need to wait a bit longer before the white smoke can be released, although with the Croatian unlikely to want to play Championship football at St Mary’s next year, he might be a bit more lenient with his demands.
