Barcelona are set to make a South American mission to sign a 16-year-old kid from Uruguay. They want to convince Nacional to sell Juan Manuel Sanabria, a teenage midfielder who has also attracted the interest of many English clubs.
Sanabria had a two week trial at Liverpool’s Melwood last year, and according to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the chase for the player.
With Villareal and Atlético Madrid also keeping an eye on him, Barça are making this trip to get in touch with his entourage and convince him to join them before the other clubs do the same.
The newspaper says that Sanabria’s intention is to sign for a club which takes care of his development, so the individual project would be more importance than the promises of huge wages.
Despite being the captain of Uruguay’s U-17 team, Sanabria still hasn’t a record on any stats websites or even an Wikipedia page. He’s just a kid in development, but the interest from European giants is already worrying Nacional fans.
