Manchester City have reportedly made a bid to sign Palmeiras striker Iván Angulo.
According to journalist Jorge Nicola, from Yahoo, the Premier League champions offered €6m for the Colombian youngster.
Palmeiras had the player on a loan deal from Envigado, and have just bought him permanently for US$3m. That means they would make some immediate profit with the sale.
Still, the Brazilian side chose to reject Manchester City’s bid, since they trust the player will be worth more in the future.
Manchester City’s offer ended up having some impact for Angulo. The player has now been promoted to Palmeiras’ first team squad, and should soon start playing for the Brazilian side.
Jorge Nicola claims that Palmeiras director Alexandre Mattos was impressed with Angulo when watching him on TV, when Colombia were facing Brazil in the U20 South American championship.
Palmeiras signed him in January on a one-year loan deal, with a buying option which could be used until December. The club decided to trigger it earlier this month.
