Sunday’s edition of AS reports ‘sources very close’ to Paul Pogba have told them the midfielder would be ‘delighted’ if he could sign the last major contract of his career with Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of June 2022, and that’s seen repeat questions around his future. The player’s agent Mino Raiola has talked up a transfer repeatedly over the past year, yet there doesn’t seem to be an awful lot happening in terms of clubs making a move for him.
Pogba is said to be waiting for the end of Euro 2020 to start negotiations on a possible renewal with Manchester United, presumably given the lack of serious interest from elsewhere.
However, AS state for a second time in the same article that people close to the player have made it clear that should Real Madrid make a movement then everything will change, with Pogba clearly tempted by a move to Los Blancos, even after Zinedine Zidane’s reign.
AS even say the player’s salary wouldn’t be a problem, especially given his commercial standing. They state his personal brand means he generates more advertising income than Kylian Mbappe.
That said, there’s no suggestion Real Madrid are even considering a move.
