Arsenal are making moves to sign Joaquín Correa from Lazio this summer, report Il Messaggero.

The player expressed his desire to leave the Serie A club in the January market, and hasn’t changed his mind since then. Now, the 26-year-old wants an ‘acceleration’ in his situation, and his agent has been hard at work trying to find offers around Europe.

Having been trying to get offers for six months, the only proposal the agent has managed to magic up is said to be a €20m offer from Arsenal. That is described as ‘paltry’ and not of a level that Lazio could accept.

Correa has a release clause of €80m, and the Italian club want to make around €35-40m from his sale this summer.

Now there may be a solution. According to the report, there’s been developments ‘in the last few hours’, and this revolves around Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal would offer the midfielder plus €15-20m for Correa, and that would be a solution which suits everyone involved.

Correa scored 11 goals and added six assists across 38 matches for Lazio last season. He played in various attacking roles, and mainly as a second striker.
