Earlier on Friday, we covered a story from Spain claiming that Manchester United could return in January to try and sign Joao Félix.

The Portuguese forward has been somewhat out of favour at Atlético Madrid this year, and following claims that the Red Devils tried their luck in the summer, the current situation has opened a potential door.

It was made clear that Manchester United would not be offering the same amount as they did in the summer, and the offer from Old Trafford could come in a matter of weeks.

Well, amid all the speculation, Diego Simeone, during a press conference, commented on his player’s situation, and he certainly didn’t dismiss a transfer.

He did, however, make it clear he had a preference.

He said, relayed by Marca: “Joao is one of the players who has scored the most goals out of the forwards we have, beyond the fact that he has three now. He has the goal and hopefully he can continue to be with us and that he can perform at the level he has shown so many times playing and to show that he has a goal because we need him.”

This season, the 23-year-old has only totalled 510 minutes of football in La Liga, which is about 40% of what has been on offer, making many appearances from the bench.

Those have been spread over 12 appearances, during which he has scored three goals and picked up three assists, which shows he can still be decisive when called upon.

As for whether Manchester United come forward in January, we’ll have to wait and see, but there’s no denying they will need reinforcements in the attacking sector going forward.
