Leicester City are an option for Philippe Coutinho if he decides to leave Barcelona this summer, according to Sport.

An injury suffered at the end of December has forced the 29-year-old to spend time on the sidelines since then.

This has reduced his market value and therefore, the La Liga club want to avoid selling him or including him as part of an exchange operation. They are only looking at a loan deal, if the Brazilian wants a move away from the Catalan club.

Coutinho is the third top earner at the Camp Nou and Ronald Koeman’s side can lower their wage bill if he’s allowed to go out on a temporary deal.

Inter Milan are studying the possibility of signing the ex-Liverpool man, but his priority is to return to the Premier League.

The Foxes are willing to take the attacking midfielder only on a loan deal, and a move to Leicester this summer will see Coutinho reunite with Brendan Rodgers.

For now, the player is recovering from the injury he picked up at the end of 2020. Barcelona will not force him to leave, but expect him to make a decision, knowing that there will be competition for minutes at the Catalan club.

Coutinho’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci is ‘currently on tour in Europe’ and the representative’s ‘priority is to get some proposals’ so that it can help his client make a decision.

Leicester City would be expected to cover part of Coutinho’s wages during any loan.
