Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in a loan transfer for Benfica striker Nélson Oliveira.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the 24-year-old was a personal ask from the club’s Portuguese manager Carlos Carvalhal, who wants a stronger attack to fight for promotion once again in the next season.
Oliveira spent the last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he scored 9 goals in 28 Championship matches, and so has some experience at the level.
A Bola also mention the fact that Benfica and Sheffield Wednesday should meet on July 20th, as the teams are expected to play a friendly match in England during the pre-season.
The match gives the clubs a chance to hold a meeting about the potential deal.
Benfica have booked St George’s Park to spend time there for pre-season. They did the same the summer before last but ended up cancelling and going on a US tour instead.
